A festive mood filled the Sophia Exhibition Complex as staff of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce gathered to celebrate Emancipation with a vibrant cultural programme. Traditional dishes, patriotic musical performances, spoken word presentations and a cultural fashion showcase paid tribute to the resilience, creativity and contributions of people of African descent to Guyana's history and development. The celebration turned solemn for a minute of silence honouring victims of the MV Barima tragedy, as staff stood in solidarity with affected families.
