Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Draft — not legal advice. This document is a working draft written to complete the site structure. It must be reviewed against Guyanese law and your actual data practices, and given a real “last updated” date, before launch.

Last updated: not yet published.

Who we are

NewsFlash! Guyana is a news aggregator operating this website and the NewsFlash! Guyana mobile apps. We gather publicly published reporting from Guyanese news outlets and present it in one place.

What we collect

  • Account details. If you create an account, we store your email address, display name and (if you sign in with Google) your profile photo.
  • Things you save and post. Articles you bookmark, comments you write, sources you follow and searches you save.
  • Newsletter signups. Your email address and which page you subscribed from.
  • Usage data. Basic, aggregated information about which stories are being read, used to power trending lists.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your personal information.
  • We don't require an account to read. Browsing is anonymous.

Where your data lives

Account data, bookmarks and comments are stored using Google Firebase. Some processing therefore takes place on Google infrastructure outside Guyana.

Your choices

  • You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
  • You can delete your comments.
  • You can ask us to delete your account and associated data — see contact us.

Third-party links

Every story links out to the publisher that reported it. Once you follow that link you are on their website, subject to their privacy policy, not ours.
