The Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the sinking of the MV Barima was formally sworn in today, launching an independent investigation into one of Guyana's deadliest maritime disasters. The five-member Commission, established by President Dr. Irfaan Ali under the Commissions of Inquiry Act, will determine the circumstances surrounding the capsizing and sinking of the Transport and Harbours Department vessel on the night of July 18.
