Dakota 100 to resume local circuit racing calendar this weekend

The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) will resume its 2026 calendar this weekend (August 2) with the Dakota 100 endurance event, set for the newly revamped South Dakota Circuit. The highly anticipated endurance-style event is set to commence at noon and will feature both motorcycle and car action. With free general admission, fans can witness the action at no cost, while those seeking an even closer experience can purchase paddock access for G$2,000, allowing them to get up close to the machines, teams and riders behind the scenes. The Dakota 100 is expected to test riders’ and drivers’ consistency, stamina and race craft over the newly repaved circuit. Organisers anticipate another strong turnout following the recent surge in interest in local motorsport following the historic GT Challenge de las Americas earlier this month. The GMR&SC has also announced a G$20,000 registration fee for competitors, which includes four paddock entry passes for each team. Support from major sponsors continues to play an important role in the sport’s development, with this event backed by Castrol, GUYOIL, ENet, One Guyana, and KFC Guyana, whose contributions continue to strengthen local motorsport and enhance the experience for competitors and spectators alike. Race fans are encouraged to arrive early to secure the best viewing spots before the first riders take to the circuit at noon for what is expected to be an unforgettable day of motorcycle racing.
