Family, friends and well-wishers gathered at Memorial Gardens in Georgetown on Tuesday to bid farewell to Mark Abhams, one of those who died in the MV Barima tragedy. Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha conveyed condolences on behalf of President Dr Irfaan Ali, the government and people of Guyana, saying the tragedy had shattered families and left a nation in mourning. He called on those present to remember Abhams' warmth and humanity, saying his memory would endure in the hearts of those who loved him. Mustapha added that the president and government remained committed to standing by affected families in the difficult days ahead.
