HGP NIGHTLY NEWS- Police have launched an investigation after an AK assault rifle with its serial number filed off was discovered abandoned in a dry drain at ‘C’ Field, Sophia, during the early hours of Wednesday. According to police, ranks acting on intelligence went to an empty plot of land in the area at around 2:30 a.m., where they conducted a search. During the operation, they found a bag containing the AK assault rifle and two AK magazines. No ammunition was recovered. The weapon and magazines were taken to the Turkeyen Police Station, where they have been lodged. No arrests have been made.
