Guyana’s swimming star Raekwon Noel produced another masterclass in the pool, shattering yet another regional record to capture gold in the Men’s 200m butterfly at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Swimming out of lane four, the young sensation delivered a dominant swim to stop the clock at an extraordinary 1:56.82s, comfortably touching the wall ahead of his competitors. Noel’s blistering effort wiped out the previous CAC Games record of 1:57.03s, set by Colombia’s Jonathan Gómez at the 2018 edition in Barranquilla. Venezuela’s Manuel Diaz took the silver medal with a time of 1:58.07s, finishing 1.25 seconds behind the Guyanese champion. In a tense battle for the remaining podium spot, Mexico’s Rafael Arizpe and Puerto Rico’s Andres Brooks tied for bronze, both recording identical times of 1:58.77. Noel’s victory follows his performance on Tuesday evening, where he claimed Guyana’s first gold in the Men’s 200m individual medley with a record-setting time of 1:59.35s.
