Three Cuban nationals remanded to prison for murder

Three Cuban nationals have been remanded to prison after being jointly charged with the murder of a fellow Cuban national in Diamond, East Bank Demerara. The three accused appeared before the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday where they were jointly charged with the murder of Yudivian Cardenas Amador Almagro. The accused are Alejandro Igalza Rios, called “Papote”, 26, a barber; Juan Pablo Ferrer Perez, 29, a construction worker; and Mairely Felicita Medinas Alvarez, 24, a labourer. All three reside at Timehri, East Bank Demerara. The trio was arrested on July 29 and July 30, in connection with the murder which occurred on July 22, at Diamond, East Bank Demerara. They appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess. As the charge is indictable, the accused were not required to enter pleas. They were remanded to prison, and the matter was adjourned until September 21, 2026.
