Three men held for questioning in "Paper Shorts" murder probe released on $1 Million bail each

Three men who were held in connection with the investigations into the 2021 murder of Ricardo Fagundes called ‘Paper Shorts’, were released today on $1 million bail each by the Guyana Police Force. Two of the men, Mark Richmond and Udoh Kanu, were former security guards attached to Mohamed’s Enterprise Security Service. The third man who was held for questioning was car dealer and businessman, Amarnauth Ramsook. He was held for questioning as it was reported that the car used in the execution was sold by the auto dealership that he owns. Richmond and Kanu were released from the Guyana Police Force Eve Leary headquarters this afternoon after being held for more than 144 hours. Over the weekend, the Court granted an extension for Richmond and Ramsook to be held beyond the constitutionally mandated 72-hour-limit. That extension ended today at 1pm. Outside Police headquarters, Richmond was greeted by his sisters who were eagerly awaiting his release. The women fell to the ground, as they returned thanks to God for the release of their brother. “Thank you Jesus! Thank you Jesus for our brother! God you know he didn’t do nothing wrong,” the women cried as they knelt on the ground. One of his sisters told News Source that she was grateful to have her brother back. “We are so happy to have him out with the back and forth with these police, trying to give even the lawyer a hard time but God is good because we were praying all the time, that he would get to come out. They get we back and forth, so, thank God, we carrying him home, and thanks to Mr Mohamed for seeing us through. Thank God for him but evil don’t go unpaid,” the woman said as she wept. Richmond said he had nothing much to say to the press, other than he was treated as a prisoner. He was represented by Attorney-at-Law, Damien Da Silva. In August 2022, Richmond was implicated in the murder of Fagundes by then police detective, Dion Bascom who had complained about a police cover-up in the investigations. The police have remained tightlipped on the ongoing investigations, but had claimed that new information led to the most recent arrest of the three men.
