Vice President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo says the government aims to eliminate Region Ten's housing backlog, currently over 3,000 applicants, by the end of next year. Speaking at a public outreach in Linden, he outlined a national housing programme targeting different income groups: small homes for vulnerable citizens, and financing partnerships between certified contractors and financial institutions for the roughly 20,000 landowners unable to build. Jagdeo also announced housing improvement grants for middle-income earners and expanded financing for young professionals to access homes.
