CAC Games 2026: Khalil and Fung-A-Fat reach Women’s Doubles squash final as Mixed Doubles pair take bronze

Guyana’s Ashley Khalil and Mary Fung-A-Fat produced a clinical performance at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Santo Domingo to book their place in Wednesday evening’s Women’s Doubles squash final. The Guyanese pair defeated Guatemala’s Tabita Gaitán and Darlyn Sandoval 2-0 in their semi-final clash at the Ágora Mall court, storming to an 11-8, 11-7 victory. After claiming the opening game, Khalil and Fung-A-Fat maintained their composure in the second, closing out the match to guarantee Guyana at least a silver medal. They return to court tonight to take on Colombia for gold. Earlier on Wednesday, Guyana secured a bronze medal in the Mixed Doubles event following a semi-final setback for Kirsten Gomes and Jason-Ray Khalil. The Guyanese duo fell 2-0 to Mexico’s formidable pair of Alfredo Ávila and Luz López in a 13-minute match. Ávila and López took the opening game 11-4 in nine minutes before wrapping up the second 11-0 in four minutes to advance to the final, leaving Gomes and Khalil with a bronze-medal finish for Guyana.
