On World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, a call to action was issued to protect the safety, freedom, and dignity of every individual as Guyana continues to grow. Under the theme "Stronger Connections, Stronger Futures: Together Against Human Trafficking," the national focus remains on grassroots progress designed to keep people safe. Over the past year, community awareness efforts reached more than 4,000 residents across 51 communities, while frontline workers, including healthcare staff, educators, and police, received specialised training to identify and care for potential victims. Immigration systems have also been fully digitalised to shield migrants from predatory channels, helping maintain Guyana's Tier 1 standing in victim protection. In a press statement marking the observance, Minister of Home Affairs Oneidge Walrond urged every citizen to look out for one another and stand beside survivors with compassion, emphasising that safeguarding neighbours requires a united community.
