Ronaldo Poon was an 11-year-old boy with a big heart, fondly remembered for being caring and attentive to the needs of those around him. “He was so loving and kind and friendly to everybody. “He was the one to show me love and comfort me… If I was sick, he would come to my bed, he would ask if I want water, tablet, or anything,” his mother, Lovisa Poon, told News Room on Wednesday morning. Ronaldo was Lovisa’s only son. He had three sisters. Young Ronaldo, who lived on the island of Wakenaam, is one of dozens of persons who died following the MV Barima tragedy. He was travelling to Port Kaituma, Region One, to spend the August holiday with his grandmother. After the August vacation, he would’ve started Grade Six and his preparations for the National Grade Six Assessment at Wakenaam’s Sans Souci Primary School. But Ronaldo will never write those examinations, and his family now grapples with unimaginable grief.
