Residents of Yarrow Dam and Sideline Dam, near Ruimveldt, Georgetown will soon benefit from a major cleanup initiative as the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development prepares to remove bulky household waste and clear a growing garbage backlog. The exercise, scheduled for Monday, August 3, follows concerns raised by residents over clogged drains and garbage accumulation overtime as the private garbage collector is said to have stopped visiting the area. On Tuesday, Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Priya Manickchand, visited the area and assured residents that a garbage collection schedule will be developed to tackle the issue.
