One person has died after a fire destroyed two homes and damaged a third at Lot 89 Lamaha Street, Newtown, Kitty, Georgetown, the Guyana Fire Service has reported. Firefighters from the Campbellville, Headquarters, and Eccles fire stations responded to a report of fire and, on arrival, found three homes engulfed in flames. An occupant was reported unaccounted for during the response, and firefighters later discovered charred remains during a search of the premises after the blaze was contained.
