The Guyana Amazon Warriors, in association with the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL), have announced that all proceeds from ticket sales for the tournament’s final will be donated to educational and humanitarian relief efforts for families and individuals affected by the MV Barima tragedy. The ExxonMobil GSL final is scheduled to be played on August 1 at the National Stadium in Providence. Sir Clive Lloyd, the former West Indies captain and current chairman of the GSL, said the tragedy had deeply impacted both the local community and the visiting contingents in the country for the T20 tournament. “The MV Barima tragedy has deeply affected all of us here in Guyana, as well as the players and support staff visiting Guyana for the League,” Lloyd said. “Our prayers continue to go out to those grieving profound loss and those brave responders whose work continues. “We have decided to dedicate proceeds from the final to support the affected families and survivors. We thank Guyana Amazon Warriors for leading this initiative.” (Modified Press Release)
