As family and friends gathered to bid a final farewell to MV Barima Chief Engineer, Paul Ian Seepersaud, 44, his brother-in-law, Grayson Hailey, shared an emotional memory that underscored the close bond they shared. Hailey recalled that whenever Seepersaud left home for work with the Transport and Harbours Department, he would always pass by to check on him. Before he departed, the two would exchange a familiar fist bump, a simple gesture that had become part of their routine. However, on the day Seepersaud left for what would become his final voyage aboard the ill-fated MV Barima, Hailey did not come outside to give him their customary fist bump, never imagining it would be the last time he would see him alive.
