Guyana accredited its first Ambassador (non-resident) to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on July 28, 2026. Safraaz Ahmad Shadood who currently serves as Guyana’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar presented his letter of credence to Abdul Majeed Al Smari, the Deputy Minister for Protocol Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, accrediting him as Guyana’s non-resident Ambassador. After the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Shadood and His Excellency Al Smari held discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Guyana established formal diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on February 22, 2012.
