After opening a 2nd location on the Kingston Esplanade and temporarily closing at its original home, Keisha's Crab Shack is back home in South Ruimvelt, and owner Keisha Elliott says the reopening is about much more than serving up its popular seafood boils. Elliott has returned to the Aubrey Barker Road and Tucville Bridge location following the completion of road works in the area, bringing with her an expanded menu, newly renovated private dining spaces and plans to breathe new life into a building with decades of family history. The revamped restaurant now allows customers to build their own seafood boils, adding options such as lobster tails, mussels and calamari, while new non-seafood choices, including ribeye steak, lamb, tacos, burgers and chicken tenders, have been introduced to cater to families and groups with different tastes. But Elliott's plans extend upstairs. She intends to reopen the rooms above the restaurant under the La Familia Hotel name, reviving the identity of the hotel and fine-dining establishment she operated with her late husband approximately 25 years ago. For Elliott, the reopening is therefore not simply a return to South Ruimveldt, it's a return to where the story started.
