Guyana Women's U-19 team ready for Regional test in Antigua

Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) President Bissoondyal Singh met with the national Women’s Under-19 team at the board’s office prior to their departure for Antigua, where they are set to compete in the 2026 Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Women’s Under-19 Championship. During the meeting, Singh presented the squad with cricket gear and urged the players to represent Guyana with discipline, pride, and determination on the regional stage. A central highlight of this year’s selection is the broad geographic representation across the squad, which features players drawn from hinterland, riverine, and rural communities, including Moruca, Pomeroon, Waramuri Mission, Leguan, and Agatash in the Essequibo River. “The selection of players from communities across Guyana reflects the continued growth of women’s cricket,” Singh stated. “I encourage the team to make full use of this opportunity and represent Guyana with pride and distinction.” The team will be captained by Danellie Manns, with Akeela Stephens named as vice-captain. Wicketkeeper Rickesha Kisten forms part of a 14-player unit that also features Jada Fraser, Sarah Bheir, Jaraya Rodrigues, Shenesa Thomas, Briana Samaroo, Allia Henry, Sowanna Booker, Kainana Leitch, Rosanna Patterson, Athalia Simmons, and Christina Jackson.
